WE ARE GETTING OUR ARCHIVE EXTENSION!
That’s right, the long-awaited, much-anticipated archive extension will be built this fall! The ink on the contract is officially dry as of this afternoon, and we are now in the midst of trying to figure out what to do with everything during construction!
It will mean big changes around here…we will be working around construction crews!
I will post more about the construction as it happens, but first, a big THANK YOU to the people who helped make this happen. Much of the money came from government support, but a lot of it came from community support, and for that, we must thank you. Having this extension will mean that we will be able to protect and care for the portions of Labrador history that we hold within these walls.*
*Unfortunately, with the cost of construction these days, the construction that will be going ahead does not immediately include the fire suppression system or the HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) system, both of which are necessary for the archival storage we require. We at Them Days will be working very hard at finding a way to get this implemented in the near future, and the upcoming construction will take place with this in mind.
