Last Day at Them Days :(

So today is my last day of work. 😦 The time has gone by way to fast! I can’t believe it has already been 3 months! I am enjoying it so much here I don’t want to leave yet! Goose Bay is growing on me! But I will come back a visit, I want to tour more of this side of the country! Hopefully I will see you soon and I will be back to Them Days!

The new magazine came in today! So i am spending my last going through 7 boxes! It is good the came in before I left, I really wanted to see them and I need to buy some too! I am really excited to read though it and show my family and friends something that I help creat!

I have 5 crazy days left in Goose Bay! Tomorrow we are going to walk for life (are you coming it is only 3 miles and there is a bbq!), then we are just packing and cleaning and talking about our time in Goose Bay!

I am really sad that we have to leave! I am going to miss everyone at work! But I am excited to go and see what is in Manitoba!

Bye I will see you soon!

8 days left of Goose Bay

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend went well! This weekend was very relaxing and fun. On Saturday I was at Birch Brook and I cleaned upstairs. The place was really clean so it was not that much work. Then we had hot dogs and the people got a lot of veggie dogs because they thought a lot of group didn’t eat meat. But none of the vegetarian were there! And the veggie dogs were so gross! Nobody ate them! Sunday the group did the Terry Fox run! Well we did the Terry Fox walk! I walked 7km and was tired after walking for a long time. The people I walked with were very slow and it took us a long time walk! Sunday morning we have French Class at 10, way to early! We learned some key words for interviews. Today is our last French class! My French is way better and I can understand a little bit better. I am sad that today is our last class I really liked the teacher! She never gave homework!

Yesterday I went to the elders home. The elders were really happy I came, and didn’t want me to leave. They asked when I was coming back and if they will ever see me again! They are so cute! In the morning I played cards with some of the senior that love to play crazy eights! In the afternoon we played bingo. The lady I was helping was always so close to winning and then someone else would win! I haven’t played Bingo in such a long time! After bingo we walked to the gift shop twice. The first time the one lady didn’t want to go and then when we came back she was ready to go! I had lots of fun with the seniors but missed coming to work!

So as you read I only have eight days left! I have started packing and finding were things need to go! When you are here for 3 months you have lots to clean up! I have to try to remember how I fit everything in! Although I did send stuff home and right now I think I have more room. This is my last week of work! I am going to miss it so much! I only have 3 days left and on Thursday we have a final presentation at 3. So I have to get off work early. It is very sad to be leaving, I am going to miss Labrador so much!

The last days are not very busy so we can pack and get ready to get on the plane at 9:40am. This week we have a lot of free time to pack. Tonight is the last French Class, tomorrow is PL night, Thursday is a BBQ, and Friday is free time. This weekend we are busy Saturday at the Walk for Life (hope to see you there!) and on Sunday at 2 we are heading down to do a Sweat Lodge. I have no idea what it is but are group is doing it.  The last 2 days are just packing and cleaning the house. Then I go to Manitoba and the group in Manitoba comes here.

It is hard to believe that Katimavik is almost over! I am half way done now! In Manitoba the group will be billeting of 2 weeks, instead of 9 days. Some people are not happy to billeting that long but I thought we would be billeting the whole time we were here! I really like billeting so I am really excited to go and billet again! The jobs there are said to be a lot of labor. Doing  a lot of labor is not my thing, but hopefully I can find another cool job like Them Days.

Hopefully you will have a good week. I know I will enjoy my last 3 days of work!

12 days of Goose Bays

Hey everyone! I have 12 days left in Goose Bay! I should start packing… my room is a big mess I really have lots of work to do! I have so much stuff to pack I don’t know how I am going to fit it all in! My bags will just be really full! It is really hard to live out of your suitcase and the have stuff for 6 months! I have my bedding, my clothes for work, for the weekend, and many other things that I can’t live without! My 2 bags are so full, I don’t know how the guys only brought one bag with them! I could never fit all my stuff in one bag!

This weekend the plan is to go to the market and help paint the SPCA and go to the sweat lodge. With the rain, wind and maybe snow I don’t know what we will be doing now! I really want to go to the Terry Fox run. But I walk it not run it! We now have French class Sunday morning too! Last night for some reason we never did class so now I have to get up on Sunday and learn something! So much for not getting up early to go to school….

Last night I bought almost all of gifts/Christmas stuff! At lunch today I am getting the rest! Then I will finally be done shopping here! Then in Manitoba I get to do more shopping! Then I can start packing tonight! I don’t think I will leave packing to the last-minute this time!

The last 12 Days of Goose Bay goes like this:

12: work today and free time

11: market and SPCA (maybe)

10: French class in the morning and then sweat lodge or Terry Fox Run

9: Them Days last week! Free Times

8: Them Days! Last French Class

7: Them Days! PL night

6: Them Days! French Class BBQ

5: Last Day at Them Days! 😦 and free time

4: Walk for life

3,2,1: Review of my time in Goose Bay

0: Leave at 9:40 and go to Manitoba

That is my last 12 days! I am excited to go but at the same time I don’t want to go! I am not done here there is so much still left to do!

Have a great weekend and stay dry! The weather looks crazy!

16 Days Left :(

Hey! Hope your weekend was good! I didn’t end up going to Mud Lake. It fell through. So instead I had a lazy weekend and sat at home for the most of it. On Saturday we went to Sunday Hill and NWR museum. Then we drove around a bit. On Sunday we did a meeting in the afternoon. Before we leave Goose Bay we have to make letters for the new group coming in, write to our new PL (leader), do a final project about our time here. We have a lot to do in the 16 days that we have left here! Yep I am only here for 16 more days, 9 of those days are at Them Days. The time is going by way to fast and soon I will be going home! (I go home in about 97 days!) On Sunday night we had French Class. I have only had about 6 six classes of French, I understand a little bit! In Manitoba the community that we go to  is half French! Hopefully I have picked up on some that I can try to talk to French people!

Today at Them Days we went to the Northern Ranger. Sarah and I went to take magazines there and so I could see the boat! It was so big, I don’t think I have seen a boat that big in real life before! We don’t have big boats in Alberta! We have big trackers but not big boats! It was really cool and we stopped at the Happy Valley – Goose Bay sign to take photos! I love taking photos by signs! They are so touristy and fun to do!

Well for the second last weekend here we have big plans. Well kind of…. On Saturday me and 3 others are going to the Farmers Market to help out. Our group is making dog treats for the puppies! I am really looking forward to going to the farmers market! After that we are going to paint at the SPCA or birch brook, we don’t know which one yet. On Sunday we may be going to the sweat lodge. The group in NWR went and really liked it so I am looking forward t o going! That is how we are going to spend our second last weekend.

It is so sad that I have to leave soon! I don’t want to leave yet, winter is coming! I have 4 French classes left, 2 more PL nights, 1 more French activity, and only so much time to finish my shopping! I need to buy 3 pairs of moccasins, Goose Bay T-shirts, a card for my nana’s birthday, and if I find anything else that I like I will have to buy it too! I really need to do a big shopping trip in Goose Bay! On top of that I need to tell my mom what to send me for winter and I need to start packing soon. (I have a little bit but it still a little early but I don’t want to be stuck in the rush of people packing and doing laundry.)

Have a great week and enjoy fall! The leaves are changing color!
