Today was Multicultural Day at the College of the North Atlantic here in Goose Bay, and we were invited to attend along with other community organizations. Pei, our Folklore Master’s Co-op student, also had a table to represent China. It was a lot of fun! The students completed a scavenger hunt (it involved asking us questions and reading the materials at our booths) and had a Northern Games competition. Here are some photos Pei took from the event.
Thanks to the College of the North Atlantic for inviting us! We had a great time talking with the students about Them Days (and about China!). Also, kudos to whomever made the tea biscuits and toutons, because they were delicious.
The latest issue is out in mailboxes (at least in Labrador, so far. Those of you a little further afield will have to wait a few more days for it to show up.) and on retailers’ shelves!
Sorry for the bit of a delay with this issue. As you know if you read regularly, I had a serious case of pneumonia and was off work for a bit, and then the main computer bit the dust! (It was eight years old, so I’m excited to get a new one that will be nice and speedy and full of empty space!)
But we’re all back on track now, and working hard to finish the Grub cookbook before the holidays, and also the December issue. Our calendar will be out very shortly as well.
We had a very generous donation of a small shed to store some outdoor things that take up valuable space in our building. So on Sunday, we had to go and retrieve it! It was quite a process, and this sturdy little shed is heavier than it looks! But we had good help, as you can see by the slideshow. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped out!
It’s been a bit of a tough month at Them Days, with me coming down with a serious case of pneumonia (see the job ad for a hint as to why it was so serious) right at deadline and then dealing with very bad computer problems upon my return! So please excuse the lack of postings lately–there’s lots to talk about, but first, let’s get down to business!
Do you think I have an awesome job? (I’m not going to beat around the bush–I love my job, and I think it’s awesome!) Well, you can have it–but only temporarily! I’m going on maternity leave in a couple of months, so we’re looking for someone who can fill in while I’m gone.
Apply soon, or pass along the job ad to those you think might be interested!
This should be arriving in mailboxes across the country now. (Those of you living locally would have received it probably Monday in your mailbox.) Keep an eye out for it in your mailbox, at your local retailer, or, if you’re so inclined, themdays.com!
This issue has a lot to chew on–check out the preview on our website.
